St. Geralds, Castlebar retain the “Connaught Chess Cup” this year ..
Thanks to our Hosts Galway Community College for providing an excellent venue for the days events.. 2nd were Colaiste Bhaile Clair .. 3rd were Presentation College Athenry.
In the Novice section :
St. Gerald’s Castlebar won this competition and Claregalway CBC took 2nd and 3rd places. There were good performances from Calascantus of Oranmore and Mountbellew college were both in joint 4th place. Our hosts GCC had their best players mixed in different teams and if they’d all their strong players on one team then they would have been in the hunt for medals too.
